Hm. I’d like to think that the only reason Gator is the only man Munch ever continually gets in uncomfortably close physical proximity to is because he sees him more as a boy than a man and therefore perceives him as being less of a threat than say, a guy like Roy. He even shies away from Wayne. Not that he can’t defend himself against other men, obviously, I just perceive it as being representative of his continual parallel to women & theme of gender nonconformity & being subjugated and abused by more powerful men throughout his life. To him Gator is just some stupid fuckhead kid who thinks he’s the shit but who Munch can openly glare at and physically intimidate because he’s not old or wise enough yet to do anything about it. Gator doesn’t have any real power over Munch bc he’s just a kid

Hi, I am the person who asked you, as a stay, the type of person who would matching bangchan. and can't be with.
So for my version 🙈 : I will base myself on the fact that he works a lot and that he spends more time working + he enjoys his freedom and his friends. Because relationships require time and investment and above all a good choice and also I think he is a Picky person who wants to choose well. (Which many do lol 🙈)
So for the romantic side of him, I won't be surprised if he (really) waits , Get to know yourself beforehand or just do things step by step and without stress or forcing. (I know many who did this first before thinking about relationships or marriage.) Even though he lived in Australia, It is possible he still has a really meet/family type mentality. (more traditional of things)
_______________I think he's the guy who wants a relationship “Until Death Do Us Part". Like a connection, soulmate or fairy tale vibe. So someone who thinks the same as him (Of course sincerely 👀)
You said someone nurturing (👍) Intelligent and communicator (👍) Who listens and empathizes or if it becomes vulnerable, don't go judging him
So someone with emotional intelligence would suit him
You said adventurous (👍) I'm going to add also creative, Person, I think it's a good mix
You remember that he is a visual person, I also think of someone smiling/charming (👍)
In terms of character, Isomeone calm, rather private and serious, Respectful/mature. Strong mentalities, values/beliefs. Who knows how to defend herself, and doesn't give in… suits him, Less stress too
Can't be with
Who isn't confident (👍)
Someone who decides for him or who think they're right when they're not? Who controls/suffocates him (Maybe also jealousy since he also have womens friends) : I mean he works and probably busy with his problems so if he has even more stress… It's not going to work .
You talked about Big ego and who stubborn (👍) I will also add someone who talks loudly or tells everyone everything private things /Who doesn't want to resolve problems in private. I don't really know how to explain it, but people who like to put their private lifes online . I don't think he would want everyone to know what's going on in his private life. Not very compatible
Who do not respect their members or friends/family? : we know that he loves his members ahah respect is important for him
I also think of someone who is unpredictable/who doesn't take the relationship seriously. : He will probably want to have his own family with children so if the person thinks differently it can be complicate
Who betrays him (easily)/Not trustworthy (and there can be several versions of this like promises for example) : I think that someone who hides a lot of things or doesn't say anything is not good for him, knowing that he will especially want honesty.
I've already written a lot haha, Here are my thoughts too. It seems like what many people are looking for but always difficult to find, this special connection...
Someone like him, but also different. Just an equal. Good luck to him (and for everyone) 🙈
I enjoyed reading your thoughts, I really liked it. It's a pleasure to be subscribed to your content.
Thanks you ✨
i agree with you 100%!
you made a really good point about him not wanting to put his private life on the internet. if/when he does find someone, i definitely think there will be limits on what will and won't be posted about the relationship. i def could see him posting cute pics here and there, but i don't think he'd put toooooo much out there of his relationship and he wouldn't want someone to do it as well.
and chan is ABSOLUTELY still gonna flirt with stays no matter what tbh so he def can't have someone who gets TOO jealous 😂

Kaito Momota: Hogwarts AU
Tumblr media
Kaito Momota was a Half-Blood (Lycanthropy) wizard that was born on the 12th of April 1983 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1994, being sorted into Gryffindor House.
He had a Blackthorn wand with a Phoenix Feather core.
His Patronus was a German Shepherd.
His favorite subject was Astronomy and his least favorite subject was Care of Magical Creatures.
Kaito is an energetic person with a passionate heart, who lives for dreams and romance, and tends to give somewhat dramatic encouraging speeches for others. He believes you need to take risks for the sake of your dreams and shouldn't limit yourself nor ever give up. Due to his clichéd hot-blooded spirit and his document falsification he could pass the final exams, proving that he is smart. He harbors a dream and a great longing to go to space, and already considers himself a space legend. He often refers to himself as "The Luminary of the Stars" and talks about the Universe being on his side. Furthermore, he talks about being popular with women and children, and he thinks that his goatee gives him a "glamorous celebrity vibe".
Throughout his Hogwarts years, Kaito described himself as a passionate protagonist of his own story who would help the others to survive the killing game. He considers himself a hero type, and occasionally offers to make other people his "sidekicks". Because of that, Kaito always tries his best to unite the group, and he 'is very much a reliable older brother type of person. He is very loyal to his friends and always there in order to aid them, such as when Shuichi Saihara broke down after Kaede Akamatsu's death. He offered his help to regain his spirit by starting training routine during the nighttime and even made him his "sidekick". It is also because of this nature that he became a moral support to the other participants. According to Shuichi, Kaito has the ability to draw people to him, and he has been described as an interesting and amusing person. Kaito have shown interest in friendly and even romantic rivalry, though he is shown to feel conflicted about romantic feelings because he doesn't wish to be held back by anyone as his true longing is the space and the universe. He appears insecure about it, believing that there is no way the other person will feel the same. After Maki revealed her feelings for him, Kaito was relieved and believed in Maki that she can start to love herself if she is able to fall in love with someone like him. While he is excited to look at the dirty books in the library as he thinks it's something guys would normally do, there has also been a moment in which the conversation topic was girls and peeping, and he appeared to become completely distracted and forgot the original topic and instead begun to talk dramatically about man's passion for exploring unknown worlds, claiming it is true man's passion. His obliviousness to romance and sexual matters has also been shown in the way he didn't realize Maki's jealousy at all and appeared oblivious when the other students more or less jokingly talked about Shuichi being a masochist.
Interestingly, Kaito seems to be a good judge of character and can give correct advice at times. He is also shown to be easily angered by mindsets that contrast his own, and he stubbornly refuses to believe in them. He strongly hates Kokichi's lies and unwillingness to cooperate, and his anger often clouds his judgement. He also cannot empathize with Ryoma's suicidal way of thinking, considering him a sissy and a fool, as he believes there is always a reason to live even if just small things like good food or friends. He is also notably hot-headed in general, occasionally taking action without thinking and wanting to punch others if angered enough. He can also be quite forceful when offering his support to others. He also swears a lot, but this is downplayed around his teachers.
With his clichéd passionate nature, Kaito possesses some slightly old-fashioned opinions, believing that men should be real men (often dramatically talking about "man's passion") and women should not use real weapons and are more suited to childcare (even telling this to Maki, who is an assassin.) Along with considering Ryoma a sissy for having suicidal thoughts, he doesn't like it whenever Gonta cries and apologizes because "men shouldn't apologize so much". At one point, during his third year, he calls Korekiyo Shinguji with the Japanese term "okama" for appearing effeminate, which is often used as a derogatory term for very effeminate gay men or crossdressers. However, Kaito himself also has trouble with weakness and appears to have a sort of complex for being the hero, not wanting to show his own weaknesses and troubles to his sidekicks even if it means lying to them as he wishes to come across as a strong figure they can lean on. He had a hard time admitting that even he can make mistakes and felt envious of Shuichi who used his detective skills to save everyone. He is also troubled by the students' situation and feels he cannot show such weakness in front of his sidekick. When Shuichi tried to reassure him that it's okay to be afraid sometimes, Kaito insists that it's not like him to make others worry. He feels embarrassed, believing he has failed his sidekick, and tells Shuichi that he wants to be left alone. Even when Shuichi agrees that it's not like him to show weakness and that he never backs down, Kaito is still bothered by it and Shuichi can tell he is hiding something even when he claims with a grin that he is motivated again. When Shuichi reminded Kaito that he is not just a sidekick but also a friend, and that Kaito can open up to his best friend, Kaito is silent for a moment and then thanks Shuichi with a smile and claims he is okay now. He claims all his doubts are gone now that he knows that Shuichi thinks of him like that.
Undoubtedly, Kaito's biggest flaw is his arbitrary complete trust in others, which is often misguided. He is sincere and believes in friendship no matter what, trusting who he wants to trust even against all evidence and logic. He believes Maki without questions despite evidence against her, with his only reason being "an official hunch from Kaito Momota, the Luminary of the Stars himself", causing other students to call him an idiot because of it. He hates to be called an idiot, claiming that it hurts his feelings. During the fourth investigation, he denied all the clear evidence that showed Gonta Gokuhara is the killer of Miu Iruma, which ended up making things worse and caused a major risk to everyone.
Kaito can also be slightly comical, sometimes having very over exaggerated expressions and reactions, and can easily come across as not that smart due to his beliefs and occasional silly behavior such as eating way too much food at one point due to feeling pumped up or him claiming he was the one who wore women's underwear in a desperate attempt to clear suspicion against him. His notable weakness is his massive fear of magical beasts, strongly disliking anything related to them and grabbing other people in horror during such situations. After Kaito and some of the other students enter an inn during their first Hogsmead trip, Kaito is shown to have horrible luck in gambling, which is something Kokichi makes fun of while Kaito seemed to completely lose his spirit and cried wondering how could The Luminary of the Stars lose so pathetically. He then made excuses such as claiming that his true skills are meant for the universe and not something like gambling, and pointed out that he had quit gambling earlier, even though he had just been playing. However, despite some of his comical traits, Kaito is actually very intelligent and talented in various ways as he has the highest grades in Astronomy than anyone else in his year.
It was revealed that before Tsumugi changed his memories while on their way to Hogwarts for their first year, Kaito was a psychopath who planned to step over others in order to gain money and honor, with the attitude he had after having his personality changed having a twisted meaning of "nothing is impossible after you're rich and famous enough". Though, it should be noted that it is left unclear whether or not this is true and it could have been a lie made by the mastermind, as pointed out by Shuichi.

i do hesitate to end shiv criticism with acknowledgment of her privilege. obviously no one has to empathize with shiv roy personally—once you break away from the Aristotelian drama, it’s really hard to empathize with a woman who covers up sexual assault and just made 3 million dollars from that deal—but her positionally reveals the lie capitalist patriarchy sells, and white cishet women often eat up. by further acknowledging shiv’s marginalization in her own cultural context, we can better understand white supremacy, misogyny, capitalism, and power.
for example: the baby. white supremacy needs more white, able bodies. according to the white supremacist belief system, these babies come from white, able-bodied cisgender heterosexual women (the only true women to people who ascribe to this belief system.) a woman is a wife and a womb. she derives all her power from her husband and her children. in the usa, power and capital are synonymous.
logically, shiv should be able to wield her considerable privilege (money) to break the glass ceiling. but she can’t. logan infantilized her; even though he could logically realize she was the ideal heir, she would always be his little girl. tom never could stomach his subservient role; that was bound to explode, eventually. her brothers sexualize and demean her; even though they love her, they would never accept her as the boss.
in s4, shiv tries to use mattson, only to be used in turn. mattson logically knows shiv is smart and capable, but most of all, he wanted to fuck her. any respect derived from his attraction to her; when he realizes she’s pregnant with another guy’s baby, he loses this respect. he’s also super fucking weird about women and doesn’t like when they’re powerful. shiv knows this information, and thinks she can play it smart enough to come out on top. but the heterocapitalist patriarchy swings the hammer, and shiv has to rely on the husband she once controlled for power, in the end. (and we cannot victim blame here—again, you don’t have to empathize with shiv to understand how everything went down.)
tl;dr - shiv roy can use her own considerable capital to gain power, but not ultimate power nor respect. even if she did win the job, she’d have to contend with misogyny tenfold. she’s the kingmaker and never the king. her brothers elected a fascist for president and her husband is in charge of her father’s company. we cannot diminish the role of kingmaker in reifying these harmful systems, but we can examine its many nuances to learn more about them.

Who's your most hated character and ship of all time? After experiences with many different fandoms over a long time my hatred of Stefan/Stelena is still #1. I absolutely fucking hate him. If Stefan Salvatore has 1 hater I am one of them lol. I definitely don't think he's a complete bad person, but the narrative that's pushed on him makes me dislike him. As if the show wasn't bad enough in how they portrayed Stefan/SE, many of his fans are so toxic that I could never stand him or Stelena as a ship. They act more like petulant children after not getting the endgame they want even though they were insanely toxic when the show aired too. Something I've noticed and have done my research on throughout multiple platforms is that Delena shippers focus less on antishipping than Stelena shippers and more of them like or are neutral towards Stefan as a character than the other way around. Also when discussing the show they are more patient with Stelena shippers than fellow Delena shippers over difference of opinion. I remember when the show was airing there was cyberbulling incidents against Delena shippers from hate blogs popularized by Stelena shippers and there was one particular incident of a Delena shipper on Tumblr committing suicide after season 3 that it even caught Julie's attention. As for Caroline I find her more likable than him even though her fans are toxic, especially about other women in the show particularly Elena and their stans. Even though she could be annoying occasionally, she was written well enough to be liked more than Stefan, and I may have liked her more if her fans weren't Karens to Elena and her stans (that's a nice way of putting it). I also feel like the show wanted people to empathize extra with Caroline like did with Stefan. For example, they wanted people to feel more bad than necessary about Caroline not getting every guy she liked immediately interested in her even though she dated all of Elena's exes and though Bonnie was more disadvantaged when it came to romance and was still a nicer person and not a slut shaming pickme. Caroline was also insensitive to Bonnie multiple times, like body shaming her and in season 8 Caroline was insensitive when Bonnie was grieving Enzo and focused more on her and Stefan. I found that strange since Caroline went off on Elena more than Matt when Matt was being inconsiderate on their double date and didn't see her as being a good friend.
Caroline is my most hated character. Romantically, Stelena is the grossest ship I've ever seen on tv, but I love them as friends. I hate Stefan's character for various reasons, but I don't hate him as much as I hate Caroline. I often refer to Stefan as the shit brother because he is. Caroline is the kind of person I'd beat the shit out of, and I very much meant that.
Going through this fandom, there's a huge difference I find among the shippers. Delena shippers don't have a problem seeing and accepting Damon's faults. They don't excuse them, but rather forgive him as Elena has. Stelena shippers are different in the fact that they excuse Stefan's actions, blame them on anything other than Stefan. That's what makes them petulant children. They're either uneducated or choose to ignore the reality of the writing for the sake of making their ship look good. Nothing they say can ever make their ship look good... just as the writers can say whatever they want in interview, it'll never change what they put on screen. Stelena is complete garbage. Stefan and Caroline are the worst characters in the show, which make them perfect for each other.

I read a few more chapters of Vinland Saga (decided to stop at ch 100 for now) and I simply continue to love it.
The moment I start doubting the writing, it pulls me right back in.
The encounter between Canute and Thorfinn was just about perfect.
Thorfinn as the non-conformist during his age and Canute as one of the powerful monarchs of his age.
I love how Vinland Saga leans on social history and how it understands the daily reality of the age, even if the story is so strongly dramatised and fused with fictional material.
The medieval king's (here during the transition from the Dark Ages to Early Middle Ages) power is absolute, predicated on the idea of the divine right (here probably in its most earliest form) – the idea that the king is the representative of the Christian god on Earth and his is the god-given right to rule.
(There is a bunch to be said about this re: Canute's arc in relation to his faith, I think, which I might elaborate on in some other post.)
And everyone around him acts accordingly.
I loved this detail in the meeting where Askeladd killed the previous king, too.
And Vinland Saga is full of awareness of the social state of the age it talks about.
From the wise but hypocritical priest who travels with Askeladd's group for a while, to the village Askeladd's group slaughters and the daily reality of the innocent family we see the point of view of prior to their slaughter.
The battlefields stink, pillaging and slave-keeping are common customs.
The world a thousand years ago is tens of times worse for women.
I talked about the story's writing of women in my previous post about Vinland Saga and I've been thinking about it a bunch since, actually.
How Vinland Saga writes women is not much different from most fiction (especially stories written by men), but I've noticed stories written for adults at least have a bigger willingness to explore the social status of women and the realities of living as a woman.
And women's lives being a struggle is doubly true for slaves in the age where Vinland Saga takes place. So the horrid reality Arnheid experienced (or even the noble woman-turned-slave at the start of the story we saw) was not too uncommon for those of her status.
It is very true that the story of travelling to Vinland is (mostly) the story of men like many stories of earlier ages (archeological finds show a pretty clear gender role divide), but it's also true that women in the Viking society were much better off than in any other of the age. They could own property, engage in trade and demand divorce, for a few examples. Nor were women exempt from being warriors.
And although Thorfinn's mother Helga and Ylva had a few neat scenes, I wish we'd see these aspects a little bit more.
I think I've felt so strongly whenever the story addresses how women are treated because even if it isn't much different from your common dark fantasy story where female characters show up rarely and far between the male characters and are there to make the guy characters sad, be written out, have their children or be tragic victims, it is at least willing to address the reality of women's lives with empathy.
I've thought about this in relation to another Seinen manga, Berserk, a bunch too and I find the why of a female audience (which includes myself!) taking a liking to these stories something fascinating to think about.
Although both series are often very excessive with all forms of violence, they are also empathic towards women's struggles and suffering.
I think this is why Arnheid ultimately did hit me and why I empathise with Casca and her journey of recovery, too.
I think the reason these stories have gained a female audience at all despite their flaws is because women see bits of their own suffering and struggles in these fictional women because, in the end, the intention matters the most.
Casca is nothing but a mute plot item for a lot of Berserk, but the story is empathic towards what happened to her and also introduces other complex women besides her into the story.
Berserk is super excessive with its sexual content especially, but at least, it, for the most part, not only pulls back on it as the story goes on, but also explores it with some substance.
And although a 100 chapters in, you can count the number of female characters present in Vinland Saga on a single hand, it does give a voice to the struggles and position of women of that time.
I thought Arnheid was really well written in that sense, at least.
I only recently realised the significance of the distinction between exploring women's position and struggles in society vs. writing women well in a more general sense.
(I think it might be Utena rubbing off on my brain, having also finished it pretty recently.)
And I often see the former branded as sexist writing (and I think it can be), but I've grown to very much think it can be valuable in its own way.
(All you have to do is make it complex/give women a variety of struggles, which I think Vinland Saga does pretty badly and Berserk gets better at as it goes on.)
I like stories that make me think about this stuff.

What would the relationship between Naerys and her grandmother Rhaenyra be like? Both are opposite like day and night, Naerys is described as very thin and small, possessing a fine and delicate beauty, she liked to dress simply almost always without jewelry or her crown and was passive, sweet and religious, contrary to her grandmother who is described as robust, large breasted and the most beautiful maiden of the seven kingdoms, she liked to dress richly in purple velvet and golden lace from Myr often pearls or diamonds shone on her bodice and always wore rings on her fingers, she could to be charming but she had a bad temper and was not very pious, she also had lovers (I am not judging her for that, I am only pointing it out to differentiate her even more from her modest granddaughter who was not interested in sex and wanted to be septa) However, both were women with features typical Valyrians who suffered due to misogyny, Rhaenyra was denied the throne that her father promised her because of her gender, she was branded a prostitute for having children from her lover, regardless of the fact that her imposed husband was gay and if she did not engender offspring they could accuse her of being sterile something very dangerous for a woman and the gentleman who protected her since she was a child joined her abusive stepmother either because she rejected him or offered to be her lover because her imposed husband was gay (Whatever the case the guy was annoyed that Rhaenyra decided whether or not she wanted to have sex and he had a madonna-whore complex); Naerys is also forced to marry a husband she does not want by her father who ignores her desire to be septa or that her son does not treat her well, her husband is heterosexual unfortunately unlike Laenor he is abusive, he does not empathize that she is also trapped in an unhappy marriage, he rapes her and is unfaithful to her with any pretty face, he forces her to give him children despite being told that she will not be able to survive another pregnancy and all the children are stillborn, rumors arise from her own husband that she has an affair with her other kinder brother and her son is accused of being a bastard, I really hope that at least the first part is true because that poor girl deserves to know what true love is and consensual sex born of tenderness and affection yes It is so it is interesting that both women do not deny themselves the opportunity to be happy despite how opposite they are. It would also be funny if her faces were similar and her eyes were true purple, only that Rhaenyra has bigger and flushed cheeks (from eating properly) with a mole under her right eye and full red lips; Naerys is more emaciated due to her poor health, not eating much and shitty life in general, her skin would be even paler without any moles and her pink lips. In your art Naerys uses the colors pink, purple, blue and white, fandom apart from black and red often imagines Rhaenyra in those romantic colors (it's not unreasonable pink is lighter red and blue and white are the house colors Arryn that belongs to her mother) plus the yellow for Syrax, maybe Rhaenyra wears darker shades of those colors, I would like to see an art where both come together, I have not seen any work like that.
Hey, thank you so much for this question! (also sorry about the earlier inconvenience lol) These are a lot of interesting ideas and inquiries, but out of fear that I might end up rambling nonstop about it, you’ll find my answer right under the cut here!
Understandably, it’s pretty clear that both Rhaenyra and Naerys are as different as two people who are related could possibly get, but by no means is that a bad thing! Personality-wise, Rhaenyra clearly shares more similarities with another granddaughter of hers- that being none other than Daena, but as I like to show in my art, I believe Naerys got along with her younger cousin very well, so technically she may get along with her grandmother very well right?
Well, I’m not too sure. While I can see Rhaenyra being absolutely loving and doting towards her oldest granddaughter had she lived long enough to meet her (after all, she did lose her only daughter Visenya), I can just as equally see them having nothing more than distant respect for one another, or just being unable to form an understanding given their massive differences.
Either way, I’m sure Rhaenyra would care for Naerys enough to want a better life for her, though I’m also unsure if she would encourage her granddaughter to take on any extramarital affair since that begs the question of if Rhaenyra herself would want to place another woman in the precarious position she had once been in where her children’s parentage was put into question (obviously her having an affair shouldn’t have even been considered a bad thing, but as always Westerosi society’s just coming in with the steel chair on this one 😔). Personally, I don’t believe Naerys would have an affair even with encouragement from her dear old grandma and, this is just my personal take, I don’t think she would’ve had an affair with Aemon.
But, either way, I can agree with you very much that I think they do have some connections with appearance in style! I do headcanon that Daella had these very big porcelain doll looking eyes, which got passed down the line from Aemma to Rhaenyra and eventually Naerys as well lol, and though Rhaenyra is described in the text as preferring deep maroons and purples, I could see her rocking pastels similar to her granddaughter back when she was younger!
I wouldn’t say that the two look exactly alike, since both their descriptions and just the lives they led in general seemed to suggest otherwise, but they’d share just enough similarities to show that they are indeed related! And, at the end of the day I think in spite of their differences and the hypotheticals of their relationships, Rhaenyra would care greatly for all her granddaughters Naerys included, and Naerys I’m sure would at the very least respect her grandmother!

I have always liked talking to and befriending men. No one I knew hated men. We have been kind and compassionate. We have listened and advised. We have laughed and we have supported. And even those men can come up with sayings like "worse to lose from a girl" "but he's a nice guy when you get to know him!" (After arguing the guy was acting very creepy and every girl I knew thought the same after dealing with him).
It's hard hearing over and over again, since we were young children, that boys and men think lesser of us because we're female. They are willing to hurt us if we disagree or are better at something. They will sometimes hurt you for simply enjoying doing something. They will be angry if we reject them. No matter how nice. Rejection does get us hurt, because at some point they might become mean or they physically hurt you (this happened more than once unprompted).
And everyone you care about who is female (no matter the young or old) has experienced this. It's not in our heads, or simply active imagination.
I have sided with men and I have supported men. It would be nice if for once men can side and support us.
Realize many (MANY) men have mistreated women (as big as abuse or simply laughing and dismissing us) and the hurt and anger isn't going to simply disappear, and sometimes we're tired. We can't even vent because we are called man haters.
When women say they hate men, do they mistreat men? Or are they meaning the men who hurt them (and if you aren't one of those why are you defending these men?) and who are still treated like more valuable in this society? And if they truly hate men, do they simply stop interacting with men and withdraw from them?
While men who say "women" mean all women and apparently that's okay. And they do, actually hate them. And how do they react? Violence and getting to force these women that they detest and hate, to be submissive to them and harass them.
Men are experiencing women being tired of being treated as less. No feminist wants to be better and rule over men. Real feminism isn't about that. We just want to be treated decent. And be safe.
If you think women being treated better means men get treated worse, you have a problem. And we can't fix it for you. It takes therapy and listening and seeing yourself and working on that.
If you want to be loved by a women you need to start loving her. And that means seeing her as a person, as an equal. Everyone has flaws, you don't need to treat her like a queen. You need to treat her like she matters as a person.
Women aren't your enemy.
If you truly do the right thing and being moral, most people who interact with you aren't seeing you as scum, they will see you as someone that gives them hope (and how sad is that? One man as opposed to many others who don't!). One of the good guys. And that should be enough for now, the whole world might not like you, but they will.
It's almost like men are experiencing only a slice of what we had to deal with all of our lives. I can empathize, I've been there.
(but I do truly believe you should care for one another and I don't treat you crap for being a man, if you're nice to me I'm nice to you, and if you've got problems I'll be the first to listen. I think the only way to improve things is actually listen to each other and working together. It's incredibly sad what's happening over and over again)
Tumblr media
I couldn't have said it better myself.

I ate chicken hearts yesterday.
It's something my dad used to cook for me. My dad that I hate. It made me think of human sacrifices, mas graves for the superstitious, babies in utero fighting for their lives from the abortion pokers. Using their teeth as shields for their bodies. Always a losing game of fencing for a "non-human" baby.
-chicken hearts are chewy, a nice mix of dark meat and the best textures of gum. While I was sick to my stomach, the hearts were a day too old but because I was mean to my mentor, I ate them anyway, ruminating over how society throughout time harm children and babies.
I fell asleep sitting up in the front seat of my miniRvVan.
My hair was over my face, staring at men eating gyros.
I'd like to think it's part of my mudang initiation, my hair over my face. *Scaring people like I'm a ghost. Haunting them with the impending doom of poverty if they fuck with me.*
I'm waiting to be impenetrable by knives. And wear Korean rainbow ceremonial crop tops. Hot pink next to red, yellow,Christmas green. It'll be my "thing".
---
I wondered if I made the men eating uncomfortable enough to leave my van alone. ------ people like to fuck it.
-----
They put that gas in the hotel rooms, spray it in the heaters. "They" I'm assuming it's the illuminati. Or just entertainment thugs who like to bully poor talented people.
The gas that numb your feelings.
It takes all the energy out of your body. And you just have the energy to be selfish. And yell bitterly at anyone who'll listen.
I didn't have the effort to finish the day as a good person. I couldn't stick to my values to help Holly make a 10$ decision on what to buy. I wonder how I'll pay for that today.
I whined at Simon until I had the energy to feel ok. He's my favorite person ever. I whine at him, tell him to stop fucking other sluts, threaten him with my scary Korean juju, send him naked pictures and soft core masterbation videos of myself. He's a motivational speaker. He motivates me everyday. To take off my clothes.
hopefully I'm slutty enough for him to love me.. as much fun as it is for guys to bother girls, it's that fun for girls to be provocative. "Women do not cause men to sin" . All people like to cause sin. It's called crabs in a bucket, it's called stealing attention, it's called power when you feel lack. It's called I never grew up and it's also called, I'm scared of getting old.
I think he knows I'm not a good person. But I try, bc my life is already so uncomfortable. Every empath is looking to rape their rapist. I'm just hoping it feels good and it doesn't stop.
/plus/And/but/ Holly does it+can do it +pain. Everyday.(Competition+she's always holier than me.) Cleaner energy, more organized. Favored by God.
The whole world thinks they're better than her,... id like to see them try her life. For as much as they steal, they should lift the weights. Can't wait to see it. I'm Bitter and yes, it's a curse.
Never fuck with orphans. Didn't your pastor teach you anything?
Anyway.

Why and who killed Itama Senju?
Tumblr media
it always angers me to see this frame because God knows how much I am revolted by violence toward children. Contrary to adults women or men, children have ZERO way to defend themselves physically or mentally. They can't comprehend what happened to them and don't have words to express it. The earlier a human soul is broken the harder to reconstruct themselves as functional and balanced adult. And Naruto shows us countless characters in this situation. Hence why protection of children is so important and so severely punished in any normal society. To break a child is to break a future generation from roots. Don't count in me to show any compassion against death penalty for child molesters, rapists, slave traffickers and other disgusting creature that evil can create.
In this image obviously the first time I saw it, I was filled by anger towards the Uchihas, how could they be so cruel? But then with time, I realise how biased are Hashirama recollection of the past. Except from the violence of his father towards him, we never saw any mistakes done by the Senjus clan during their wars. They were always the good guys with an open-minded and how Uchiha should have feel privileged that they offer peace treaty ! How stupid was Izuna to refuse it, even in the verge of death? Hashirama vaguely evoked that both side did kill children. But it's not the same if I told you clearly how this child have been tortured and by whom. And that's what happen with this frame. The Uchihas are solely seen as evil beast, with no explanation. Never the Senjus.
Re-reading again Naruto with less emotional side, something immediately catch my attention. Why do they need 5 grown-up Uchihas, apparently highly skilled shinobi against a mere child? How old is Itama? Maybe 5 years old? It's ridiculous. One of them can do the job alone, why do they need to stick together in this cruel act. And why do we see the face of one of them with a very distinctive scars? It reminds me Kenshin somehow don't ask me why. With this type of scar you can't pass unnoticed in the street. He can't be a spy but definitely someone often involved in frontline's battlefield. Why again wasting his energy in a toddler?
I guess his identity belongs to the elephant cemetery where rest in peace Hikaku Uchiha, Madara POV, Izuna POV and Warring state era full storyline, so slide with me down the headcanon toboggan.
This looks to me like a personal Vendetta. You know this biblical expression : an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Like a retaliation for someone precious the Uchihas lost before. And I bet on the death of one or two brothers of Madara, who were also son's of their leader Tajima. I wish we know how disgusting was the death of those two brothers who, by the way, didn't even have a name. We know how Uchihas are prompt to love and to hate. If they were so merciless towards Itama, in which fashion did Madara's brothers die in the hand of Senjus?
They collectively took revenge on this poor little boy, because they collectively have a grudge toward the Senjus for their loss. Itama is not a threat in himself who necessitate all those people, he is a threat for who he is : Butsana's son, the future of the Senju. And they might as well knew precisely who he was and how hurtful it would be for their sworn enemies.
Tumblr media
Itama's death is immediately followed by the second meeting between Hashirama and Madara by the river. And by his attitude you can tell that Madara's brothers were not dead the same day nor the same week than Hashirama's. He always reacts very emotionally when anything is involving his family. Remember how quickly he switched when Izuna's life was threaten by Butsuma? or his firm grip to the ground when he sworn to protect his only brother left, no matter what? So we can tell he had done his mourning for a while (months? year?).
However his expression when he learned about Itama's death can be interpret in many levels. Yes he empathizes with his friend. But surely he already has doubt on Hashirama being a Senju. And the timing can confirm his doubt. Back to his compound, he surely heard that a Butsana's child had been eliminated and then your talented ninja friend is mourning his little brother freshly deceased...🤔
Anyway we will never know unless we got a prequel ! Or Kishimoto's phone number.

I feel so sorry for Kanato. Because when you hear his CD dramas or any route you realize in parts that Kanato literally adopted schemes and pulls out by force from people the feelings and things that anyone could get for free, like, being really dear and loved by someone.
Like, yes, he gets candy and stuff, but imagine being treated like a child of so much force as crybaby? "Look, I have a basket full of candy for you! 😊😊😊" "Please don't be angry, look, how about eating candy??😅😅🥰" this is a technique used to deal with babies and children. Imagine applying this to a 17/18 or more older (depends on your hc preferences) year old male. It's not a surprise that he gets angry when people insinuate frailty against and try to manipulate him with candy or conversations.
He takes advantage of his cute and "naive" appearance to get what he wants. But when people really treat him like the cry one, when he not just accepts to supply his wills, he get angry. Because be amazed, he truly hate all this. He wants to to be strong, he also wants to protect, so much so that in Dark Fate Kanato spent a lot of time serious, flustered in thoughts, and frustrated trying to protect Yui. Probably even thinking that being worthy of concern was synonymous with being weak. Kanato may be selfish, but he doesn't deny that he secretly thinks he's a loser. He is insecure about his height. His appearance "My purple hair makes me look like her. I look more like her than those two maggots." And boom, half an hour looking at his mother's painting. Do he want so badly to feel loved like that? Hm, still, he's insecure about everything. I wonder if at least 1 time he's ever stopped to reflect on himself, and if he just ended up gulp that cowardice it and going any way he could. He could have turned it around, but I think he just opted for the easiest. Despite he's not like a real empath human, Kanato just acquires that sweetness and understanding, evolves as a character later with Yui's true good heart (Yui thank you for making these distant dreams come true, I love you so much 😭😭)
Tumblr media
You realize that his brain and mind is not well developed when you see him frozen in time, as if he were intact in centuries past his childhood. The only thing that really keeps him alert about things is the strategies for paranoia and trauma he's gotten in the course of his life. Even though all this cuteness and crying is not a farce, Kanato can be the type of highly sensitive beings (at least out here there really are people more sensitive and sentimental than others, in physical, mental, spiritual senses etc) idk if this applies to him but he's definitely the MOST SENSITIVE of all. Kanato was the most clinged to his mother, the real babyboy, the mother's prince who didn't accept evil or simply adopted a lot of red flags to deal with everything. SHE WAS LOOKING for him >>>looking for him<< to sing for her. He sighed but continued. Throats were burning and bleeding but even though he didn't like it or it was an obligation, he continued. His heart is so broken that he still craves all that sweetness he didn't get in home with the whore that were his mother and father. He stays in that loop, things turn according to the ideal he created for him in so many centuries alone. He wants to give and receive the lap he didn't have, even though he have to act childish or asshole to get at least a bit of this.
Tumblr media
Kanato is a very aesthetic guy, he must be so cool and sweet apart from all that stupid sarcastic little crybaby unheee unheee buaaa buaaa coping. Imagine trying something against him, I stop to think how difficult it would be to deal with him, because he himself — along with other diaboys and especially Laito, already use red flag masks. Imagine trying something against him, talking, offering candy, or just trying not to get killed. It is a pity.
He hates himself while at the same time feeling superior. An idiot who has hated women, God and the whole world for unresolved hurts.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but was this really the only way out he had?
He can be sadistic and have a wretched ego to do all this... but ugh.
He is so sad. Kanato you know you lost. You hurt and hurt others for receive things so... Natural. It's an pity.

There's an important bit of context missing here.
Radical Feminism subscribes to the belief, as many socialists do, that nurture is king. That culture and society are social in nature, and that those who control media and culture, therefore, control the minds and thoughts and soul of the grand total.
Are you starting to see why this ideology appeals to them? Because it basically boils down to, "the little people don't have any thoughts of their own, they get their marching orders from intelligentsia and the only reason we have crime or bad think is because of lack of resources and not enough positive propaganda."
It's a very simplistic and hopeful outlook by someone that fancies themselves an empath altruist but are also unspeakably egocentric and sociopathic. The idea that the violent sociopath or psychopath just wasn't pigeon holed through a system that groomed them mentally into thinking a certain way and the absence of the system being "whatever" that isn't their ideal socailistic society, to be a monster.
Now add in that they see organized religion as an ideological opponent (like all cults and social structures see one another) and anything that opposes their ideal world is therefore the anathema and a false prophet that needs to be destroyed. Now consider that they consider their ideology to be science. It's postmodernist subjective interpretative soft truth bullshit, but because they don't (openly) base it on religious textbooks but hide it in academic papers and cliques, there's nothing to argue against for their glass house and they can see the religious churches and faithful. So, they commit guerilla warfare by just telling the truth about religious culture with some unflattering embellishments, whoop themselves up as being FACTS and LOGIC lovers that only care about SCIENCE you guys because they just love SCIENCE so much, while they themselves cherry pick statistics and information for studies about rape.
And naturally they come to the conclusion that capitalism and judeo-christianity (and also Islam, but one enemy at a time) and organized religion need to go away in order for their ideal society to come about. That all religions teach this, "patriarchy," which they characterize as inherently evil and misogynistic, and that allows the layman to make such logical leaps that all crime and trespass against people in the past, was purely because they believe it was religious culture that churned out rapists.
Those that want to believe that you can fix the problem of rapists by finding a nurture cause REALLY want to live in a world where nurture is the reason people steal, kill and rape, so they start acting along with it out of sheer hope that's true. Because they very much want it to be, and all they need is someone else to operate as if it's true to confirm their bias and play along, and any culture that offers them that opportunity rather than verbally dispels their notion that nurture is king is seen as a buzz kill. Even in the absence of a ready culture like college socialists to hang with that will say it, they will hold out hope that the only reason criminals exist is because they're robots with bad programming that just needed to be disciplined and taught right as children to be more mentally sound. They emphasize the brainwashing element they imagine that is other people being NPCs that shaking a finger at as babies dominates and controls their thoughts and behavior. It doesn't exist, but they WANT to believe that it does.
So when they say, "Educate boys," they don't just mean, "cultivate a world where men understand consent and no means no." They're saying, "this didn't exist before we instituted it because the world before our culture was the dark ages." They're saying, "Men as a sex or as a gender are not currently taught to see women as people, because of judeo-christianity and the default status of our civilization." They're saying, "Education is a tool not of teaching facts and reality, but one of programming and domination. Propaganda is god and all education is propaganda. The only difference between a criminal and a good citizen is being put through a workers camp to teach them their place."
I say often that it's wrong when people say, "the left can't meme." There are so many layers to radfem sound bites that you need to sit through hours of aggrandizing college courses and extra-curricular faithful get-togethers to hear the lectures and shit to really understand the perverse depths their thought processes go for the proper Rosetta Stone on their memes. Not seeing their memes or understanding them means you can't decipher and translate them to people.
They genuinely believe that society works from the top down and that anyone who isn't a brilliant culture creator (GUESS WHO THE UKULELE PLAYERS THINK THEY ARE) is some generic NPC just meant to receive information from the mass collective that is Capital S "Society." And that current modern Society is a den of inequity, rape, male chauvinism and Andrew Tate-y philosophy. They tell themselves these thing and reinforce these beliefs in their institutional echo chambers to make the reality more real.
This gets slightly complicated between generations of radfem theory, but survives.
At its heart, the Radfems were taught to handfeed out of a socialist's palm, and the class struggle theorists ultimately reject reality in favor of their ideas of caricatures of parties, they dub 'classes.' TERFs accept the class struggle theory, with women as the Class Always Oppressed in the dichotomy of, "One class is always the oppressor, one the oppressed." And see socialism as the only way to make "both classes" equally represented in society.
Social Constructionists do not acknowledge any sort of sacredness to biological states, and in fact absolutely abhor the idea of biologically constant social classes. They don't want classes that are only accessible by inherent characteristics you can only inherit, they want classes that amount to sports teams, or national banners. To them, biological sex as a named group is unacceptable because the named group is derived from a real, physical, non-subjective thing. Males and females cannot be equalized or squared that way, because females get pregnant and males do not. Our very sexual biological differences and functions as a species infuriates them. And so, they choose to argue that sex doesn't exist and should be censored out of our society and culture. That's their solution to it. Everything is about self-identification to them.
And these TIRF fucks are the ones that latched on to trans rights. Not because they give a damn about transgendered people, or their civil rights, but because A.) they're a minority. B.) they're oppressed. C.) Getting the transgendered rights under THEIR contexts means, in their minds, they can force into law and culture that gender comes from self-identification and biological sex is as meaningless and invalid as your blood or stool types in how relevant they are to your being. Cis or trans.
So traditional radical feminists would definitely say a woman is good and a man is bad because of their biology, and "teach men not to rape" would be like teaching a dog to go against their instincts to eat meat off a bone without permission.
While Social Constructionists are more purist about their class struggle theory, and see men as just a particular model of robot to program by society and culture. Both adopt the idea men (whether a sex or class) are the privileged oppressor caste. They're both wrong, but, now at least you understand what they believe and the differences in how they think.
Thinking about how most discussion around ‘educate boys’ is sub-textually presented from a position where sexual violence is a default, expected behaviour that must be trained out, rather than treating it as a learned behaviour that could be prevented if the teaching was identified and stamped out

The Original Intent of Terra and how Deathstroke got the bad end of the stick for it
Okay, Deathstroke Children (Idk what to call you guys because fellow Deathstrokers would end this conversation immediately), I found the time to do this, so let's get to it!
(Note: My original laptop broke with my comics, so I have no images to spare, so it will be sourced. Another note: Many words will be in bold. Partly so that for those reading will not lose track.)
But if tl;dr:
Cold Hard Truth: Everyone from Terra fans to Deathstroke fans needs to stop seeing these characters as real people.
Original Terra wasn't human trafficked or whatever sob story people want to label her with. The CREATORS intended her to be written as Evil without the mental illness and to die for the shock value. They had Raven, The Literal Empath, spell this out in Judas Contract. As for Deathstroke's involvement, he was shoved into her creation story, and Marv Wolfman himself recognized his mistake in doing that.
And for those calling Deathstroke a nazi, Original Terra had nazi-like beliefs where common people should fear and serve them or be killed off just because they're 'special'. Again, BLUNTLY stated in the Judas Contract. So if you're going to call Deathstroke a Pedophile, we'll call OG Terra a Neo-Nazi. (But I highly advice for Deathstroke Fans to not start that kind of war, but I had to say what I had to say.)
Don't get me wrong. (Hopefully all) Deathstroke fans know that their relationship was wrong just like Marv Wolfman, and we do not support pedophiles! But Slade isn't a pedophile! He was never intended to be written as one! It was a mistake made on many levels and should be rewritten like OG Terra's Evil Neo-Nazi-like personality, instead of being thrown into cancel culture.
Also for Deathstroke fans, don't get upset over their content and begin any argument emotionally. Just enjoy whatever good content we can get and support it if you can. Hopefully we'll get our Deathstroke movies and so on!
So I've briefly chatted with one of you over the matter with Terra/Tara Markov and how upsetting it is about how people refer to Slade Wilson as a Pedophile. That is a serious accusation that would make it very uncomfortable to argue about since it can easily make it seem like we justify the actions of pedophiles, and that we are part of pedophile culture that does exist in social media space.
AND WE SHOULDN'T, AND FOR ANTIS READING THIS WE WON'T.
But there was a time when I used to have a blog called friendlyremindersofsladewilson, where I defended Slade and put the blame all on Terra. I was 14 at the time, and looking back at it, I am not proud of it because I realized now as an adult how I defended it for most of the wrong reasons, but still stand with the fact that SLADE IS NOT A PEDOPHILE.
And since this took place when I was so young, it compelled me to write this post because I fear some of you are really young, too, and may end up in this regretful position.
So to make it clear, what Slade had been written to do is a crime, and we should acknowledge it, but not in the way as if it was a crime acted out in real life.
What I mean by that is that there's a clear separation between fiction and reality where one isn't real (Duh!). In this case, it's about the mistakes made between fiction and reality. In reality, mistakes made by the person responsible is on the person. In fiction, mistakes made is dependent on the creator's intent, and sometimes the creators can make mistakes themselves.
Most notably Terra's:
Tara Markov/Terra was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.
In Marv Wolfman's literal website, he stated in his online "What the-?" column:
"Which leads to Terra. That was easy. George and I wanted a Titan who betrayed the others. we also wanted to play against every reader conception of who characters are. George and I knew her whole story before we began and we knew she would die. We set the story up with her trying to destroy the Statue of Liberty to show she was the bad girl, but we knew if George drew her as a cute kid everyone would simply assume she would be ‘turned’ from the dark side because that’s the way it was always done which is why that wouldn’t be the way we did it. Tara was insane an stayed that way right until the moment she died. By the way, she IS dead. I don’t know what other writers will do with her – if anything – but if they want to honor the original series they will leave her dead. The Terra from Team Titans was – as stated – some kid the villain kidnapped and physically and mentally altered her into looking and acting like the original. But she was NEVER the real Terra."
And it should also be noted that he stated before this statement that:
"...Only mistake I think I made with him is having him have a physical relationship with the 16 year old Tara Markov. That was wrong."
So Marv Wolfman himself recognizes that what he did was a mistake, but his intent on Terra was never to write a victim.
And quick note: Insanity isn't written as a mental illness here. It's written like how many villains are labeled as insane for having skewed beliefs that deviates from the common good.
Terra truly had some nazi-like beliefs where she BELIEVED that everyone who wasn't 'special' like her and the Teen Titans deserved to be treated like shit because they weren't 'special' like them. She bluntly said it herself in the Judas Contract.
As for George Perez's comment in an interview I found in this website:
"GEORGE: Tara was just a cute little girl, although I based a little bit of that on my wife Carol’s sister, Barbara. A little upturned nose… Barbara does not have the teeth that Tara had. I wanted Tara to be a girl who looked normal. Which also means her death caught everyone even more offguard.
Tara, she was made to be killed; she served her purpose. That was it.
ANDY: You didn ‘t get any attachment to Tara?
GEORGE: No, because I knew we were going to kill her. So I deliberately used all the things to make her as likeable and cute as possible, so people would never believe we were going to kill a sixteen-year-old. And she was a sixteen-year-old sociopath. She was one of our cleverest gimmicks; we deliberately created her in order to lead everyone astray. So we couldn’t build any fondness for her, ’cause we knew full well what her whole motive for existence was. Her existence was basically to keep the stories interesting; we were tossing a curve that no one would have expected.
ANDY: You didn ‘t even love to hate her, huh?
GEORGE: No. I loved handling her, because she was such a good idea. But she was an idea. Not as much a person. She was there to show exactly how much their humanity can be one thing they have to be careful about, the Teen Titans have to be careful about. . . they can be too trusting, or their own weaknesses can be used against them."
Terra was supposed to be a representation of An Evil Betrayal of Trust and That Not All Cute Girls Are Good.
But they took it too far by making her sleep with Deathstroke because they wanted to truly make her look evil by literally sleeping with the enemy. Y'know because this was the 80s, and women having sex was an evil act back then, and that point of view has somewhat or barely improved 40 years later.
Deathstroke was just shoved into this idea, and Marv tried and perhaps failed at trying to undo this mistake with his talk with Beastboy (Tales of the Teen Titans issue #55) and before his confrontation from Wintergreen (Deathstroke (1991); Chapter 35).
So just as I had stated at the top in the tl;dr, it was a mistake made on many levels and should have been rewritten out just as many had done with OG Terra's true personality, and be done with it.
Random person: "He still slept with a 16-year-old."
And it's not that hard to make other heroes and villains do this mistake. Because again, it's all fiction. Deathstroke's fictional. As in Not Real, so we could literally undo the damage by rewriting this mistake. Or make it worse by making Terra the rapist by her using her Earth powers to bind Slade down and force him, and you can't deny that it's plausible. Because she's fictional. Anything can happen. So why didn't Slade tell Beastboy whether he slept with her or not, maybe it was because he really didn't want to but he was forced into it. And that's just something you can't dump on a very emotional man who was trying to kill you a moment ago.
ALL THE POSSIBILITIES BECAUSE IT'S FICITIONAL!
But ANYWAY, I went way too dark there.
Ending on a brighter note: Personally to all Deathstroke fans, please value your mental health, please don't start any arguments that'll compromise it, and continue supporting Deathstroke in whatever way you can!

scandalous star: henry fonda - an analysis
“I don't really like myself. Never did. People mix me up with the characters I play. I'm not a great guy like [some of the characters I play]. I'd like to be but I'm not.” - Henry Fonda
Pity. I love Henry Fonda. Mainly because he reminds me so much of my own father, who also happens to be a strong, silent Taurus. His bearing suggested something like morality, a sort of ethics of posture and gait: upright and humane, empathic if also stoic and withdrawn. Indeed, he was, onscreen, a man who exemplified for nearly half a century a man of honesty and decency in more than 100 film and stage roles. So much of what we know about Fonda derives from the authority of his body on-screen: a long, taut, calibrated instrument, most expressive when restrained—as it nearly always was. He perfected an understated style that might be called precisionist, his performances all sharp lines and edges. He acted naturally. On film, he repeatedly bears the values, and burdens, of civilization. Many people my age associate him not with the performances of his Ford-era classics—the stunning 12 Angry Men being my personal favourite—but with his self-portrait as the flinty father in the sentimental 1981 drama On Golden Pond, his swan song for which he won an Oscar.
Fonda was the patriarch of a family of famous actors, including daughter Jane, son Peter, granddaughter Bridget, and grandson Troy Garity. His two biological children, Peter and especially Jane, are more immediate in the collective consciousness, linked to ’60s counterculture via hedonism and leftist radicalism, and because each had a publicly strained relationship with him. Fonda is a man stranded due to the intensities of familial strife, amplified into cultural conflict. Off-screen, Fonda was a useless father and unfaithful husband. True to his earth and air dominance, Fonda loathed displays of feeling in himself or others, and this was a consistent part of his character. Whenever he felt that his emotional wall was being breached, he had outbursts of anger, exhibiting a furious temper that terrified his family. He was described as cold, self-absorbed and a bully to women, not to mention a shameless womanizer, marrying five times. He drove his second wife, Jane’s mother, to suicide. Fonda—the outmoded liberal, the vital-center moderate who is too accepting of compromise—seems marooned on the far side of the 1960s. Nonetheless, I love his equanimity and his sober dignified maturity: a man with a mournful appreciation of the past and its costs, rather than a heedless orientation toward the future.
Tumblr media
Henry Jaynes Fonda, according to astrotheme, was a Taurus sun and Libra moon. He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, to the former Herberta Jaynes and William Brace Fonda, owner of a small printing company in Omaha. Initially, he was a short shy boy keenly interested in boys scouting; but avoided girls as much as he could. When he was 14, he and his father witnessed the brutal lynching of a black man named Will Brown from a nearby building during the Omaha race riot of 1919. This enraged the young Fonda and he kept a keen awareness of prejudice for the rest of his life. Towards the end of his school years he suddenly grew tall and handsome. His aim in life was to become journalist and he graduated from the Omaha Central High School in 1923. He attended the University of Minnesota, studying journalism while working in two jobs, as a physical-education instructor at a settlement house and as a troubleshooter for the telephone company. In his sophomore year, he later said, he was exhausted and returned home for a rest. While supporting himself with a series of unsatisfying jobs, he was persuaded by Dorothy Brando, a family friend and the mother of the future star Marlon Brando, to join the Omaha Community Playhouse, where Mr. Fonda acted, painted scenery, became assistant director - and resolved on his career. After two years at the playhouse, he decided to try his luck in New York - to no avail. He went on to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where he joined the University Players, composed of college students, including future film stars James Stewart (who became his life-long friend) and Margaret Sullavan, who was to become Fonda's first wife. Over the next four summers and one winter season with the group, Mr. Fonda played a wide variety of leading roles, becoming a seasoned actor. His marriage to Sullavan ended in divorce in 1933. On Broadway, meanwhile, he got a walk-on part and bit roles in two short-lived plays, and he appeared in comedy skits in the 1934 hit revue ''New Faces.''
In the succeeding decade, the actor alternated easily between films and the theater. Fonda was a rising star in 1936 when he met beautiful but emotionally fragile New York socialite Frances Ford Seymour on the set of a British film, Wings Of The Morning, which he was making in England.
Frances Ford Seymour, Henry’s doomed second wife
After a whirlwind romance, Frances badgered Henry into getting married. Frances was the daughter of an American industrialist whose family claimed ancestry from Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour – a fact that was reflected in Jane Fonda’s full name being Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda. Medical records revealed that Seymour was a victim of recurrent sexual abuse in her childhood. According to her daughter Jane, it was at the hands of her piano teacher. The abuse left Frances traumatized, and turned her into a promiscuous adolescent who had nine abortions before her first daughter Frances de Villers "Pan" Brokaw was born; Seymour’s first, much older husband, businessman George Brokaw, was a violent alcoholic who beat her savagely. A year after Brokaw died, Seymour married Henry Fonda. Their daughter Jane was born in 1937. Flighty and self-absorbed, Frances ignored her daughter, who she left to be brought up by nannies. Her father was no better, preferring to fly kites with his good friend, movie star Jimmy Stewart, than spend time with either one of his children. Frances was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after the birth of Peter in 1940. Discovering that her husband was cheating on her with other women, Frances went to desperate lengths to regain his attention. She would walk around naked in front of him and even crawl on her hands and knees to him, begging him to talk to her. It didn’t work. Terrified she was losing her looks, she would spend hours in her darkened bedroom, wearing a chin strap and eye pads to keep her skin youthful. She had plastic surgery long before it was commonplace.
In August 1949, Fonda announced to Frances that he wanted a divorce so he could marry his mistress Susan Blanchard; their 13 years of marriage had not been happy ones for him. Devastated, Frances spiraled into a mental breakdown and had repeated stays in psychiatric hospitals, sometimes being confined in a straitjacket. Rather than comfort a woman who was descending into madness, her husband’s main concern was for the damage it would cause to his career if word got out his wife was in a ‘loony bin’. When Frances was allowed home briefly from a psychiatric institution (shadowed by nurses because she was on suicide watch), she called out desperately for Jane. But the 12-year-old hid upstairs. Frances didn’t see her daughter that day, but she did manage to distract her nurses long enough to slip a tiny razor into her pocket. A week later, on her 42nd birthday in April 1950, she shut herself in a bathroom at the hospital and used the razor to kill herself by slashing her throat from ear to ear. Unperturbed, Henry Fonda performed on Broadway that night as usual. He didn’t even give their two children the farewell letters their mother had written them, and insisted that she had died of a heart attack. Her daughter Jane only learned the awful truth about her mother’s suicide months later when a fellow school pupil showed her a report in a film magazine. Her brother Peter didn’t know for years. By then, having been packed off to boarding school where she had nightmares every night about her dead mother, Jane wrote to her father about her terrors. Henry returned her letters with her grammatical errors highlighted in red ink, refusing ever to discuss the suicide. Later in that same year, Fonda married Blanchard.
He starred in comedies such as The Lady Eve with one of his favourite co-stars,  Barbara Stanwyck (who he had a lifelong crush on). In World War II, Fonda enlisted in the Navy as a seaman, rising to lieutenant and receiving a Bronze Star and Presidential citation for his work as an operations and air-combat intelligence officer in the Pacific. He starred in movies directed by John Ford, and their collaborations produced a number of classic films that established Fonda as a star. It was his role as the dispossessed farmer and ex-convict Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath (1940), an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel that earned Fonda particular praise and his first Academy Award nomination. After the war, Fonda took a break from movies and attended Hollywood parties and enjoyed civilian life. Stewart and Fonda would listen to records and invite Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Dinah Shore, and Nat King Cole over for music, with the latter giving the family piano lessons. In 1957 Fonda made his first foray into producing with 12 Angry Men, in which he also starred. Early on, the film drew poorly, but after gaining recognition and awards, it proved a success. During the 1960s, Fonda performed in a number of war and Western epics, including 1962's The Longest Day and the Cinerama production How the West Was Won. His third marriage, to Susan Blanchard, with whom he adopted his daughter Amy, ended in divorce, as did his fourth marriage, to Contessa Afdera Franchetti. His fifth wife was the former Shirlee Mae Adams.
Despite approaching his seventies, Fonda continued to work in theater, television and film through the 1970s. Hollywood first made its amends in April 1981, when it awarded him an honorary Oscar for career-long achievement. A year later Hollywood underscored its esteem by awarding him the Oscar for On Golden Pond. With 10 Academy Award nominations, the film earned nearly $120 million at the box office, becoming an unexpected blockbuster. In addition to wins for his co-star Katharine Hepburn (Best Actress), and Best Screenplay, On Golden Pond brought Fonda his only Oscar - for Best Actor (he was the oldest recipient of the award; it also earned him a Golden Globe Best Actor award). Fonda was by that point too ill to attend the ceremony, and his daughter Jane accepted on his behalf. Fonda died at his Los Angeles home on August 12, 1982, from heart disease. He was 77.
Next, I’ll cover an equally taciturn yet feisty Taurus: the famously cantankerous Katharine Hepburn.

Overall personality snapshot: The principles of justice and harmony featured strongly in all he did. He wanted to get to grips with ideas and translate his vision of Utopia into a realistic proposition, but probably discovered the necessity for compromise. This may have disillusioned him at first, but later will become central to the way he operated. Innately sociable and convivial, he was genuinely interested in other people and indeed needed large amounts of kindness and affection. He wanted the best for everyone but he made sure that he did not skimp on himself. He thrived in beautiful surroundings and in the company of elegant minds. An innately aesthetic person, and probably quite romantic as well, he brought a genuine warmth and lively concern to all social gatherings, which made him downright flirtatious sometimes. If he was an artist, he created works of art that were good enough to eat; if he became a chef, dishes that were works of art. Whatever he did, his creations will express his innate sense of harmony, beauty and style. A lively social conscience is another aspect of this combination, as well as an awareness of the importance of education in the healthy development of the individual and of society.
He was attracted to progressive ideas that assert the inalienable rights of every human being, and he accepted the paradoxical fact that everyone is different and yet the same. He believed in a society that respects both material needs and high moral values, and his social instinct and pragmatic perseverance may have taken him into social-welfare work or the political arena where he could express his power and idealism. He learned how to make others see the intelligence of his thinking by first listening to and valuing their thinking on the subject. But he probably had a diplomatic knack of making sure the substance of his view prevails. And he could really impress with the practicality of his approach: he economized with flair and used the resources to hand. Waste not, want not, he always said. He also knew that a happy, convivial, relaxed atmosphere was the most conducive to constructive communication and compromise. Conflict is anathema to his being and he employed his natural diplomatic skills to overcome antagonism in any setting – with the sheer force of his magnetic personality.
His body was neat and wiry, and he used neat and economical movements. His well-groomed appearance was mirrored in his cool and classic way of dressing, good posture, fine bone structure and animated expression. Physically, he possessed good stamina. He tended to look younger than he really was, all the way through into his later years. He was practical, steady and patient, but he could be inflexible in his views. One thing he did have was plenty of common sense and good powers of concentration, although he tended to think that purely abstract thought was a waste of time. His thought processes weren’t as quick as others, but his decisions were made with a lot of thought behind them. He loved to talk and to travel, so with his able to combine these two in her job as an author, he was happy. He needed to have a fair degree of variety and change within his job, and the aspect of travel may have satisfied this. In whatever job he would have done, he would always have been the perpetual student, as long as the subject was interesting enough. He was a person who wanted a first-class life-style, and who treasured his possessions. He needed to be able to feel materially secure, and he probably gained wealth through sheer industry, because he was patient, steady and confident in this area of his life. However, he may also have been a little too trusting when it came to money, presuming too easily that there is always more where it came from. His acquired wealth may be generously distributed, both on himself, for he was self-indulgent, and on others, because he was vulnerable to sob stories.
A rather complex person, he was artistic, creative, intuitive and compassionate. At times, he was his own worst enemy, because he tended to relive past errors over and over again, which gave him a negative outlook on life. He could be hypersensitive and moody, needing quiet and solitude. Although he had a basic fear of subjects he didn’t understand, they fascinated him nevertheless. He looked for a life partner who had similar ideals to him. He belonged to a generation with a rational and logical attitude to life, a time when scientific advances came to the fore. There was a conflict between tradition and convention, and the experimental and unconventional. As an individual, he learned to strike a balance between the erratic and the conventional. He had the ability to come up with original ideas which could be of practical value. He was part of an emotionally sensitive generation that was extremely conscious of the domestic environment and the atmosphere surrounding their home place and home country. In fact, he could be quite nostalgic about his homeland, religion and traditions, often seeing them in a romantic light. He felt a degree of escapism from everyday reality, and was very sensitive to the moods of those around him. Fonda embodied all of these Cancer Neptunian ideals, trying in vain for the rest of his life to please his moody, petty, vicious mother and live up to her expectations. As a Gemini Plutonian, he showed an enormous amount of mental vitality, originality and perception. Traditional customs and taboos were examined and rejected for newer and more original ways of doing things.
Love/sex life: The bad news first; he was one of the least subtle of the Scorpio Martian lovers and his attempts at using his sexuality as a means to dominate were likely to be clumsy, bombastic and, in the end, ineffective. His biggest problem is a lack of patience. For most people of this type, sex is a time-consuming activity in which erotic sensibilities are allowed to simmer slowly in a thick stew of emotional meaning and physical delight, but he was just too impulsive and too horny for such drawn out processes. He needed his pleasure now. Now the good news; he was one of the most active lovers of this type. He was not content to just sit back and observe passion. He went out, found it and made it his own. He liked challenges in his relationships—new experiences, aggressive partners and the spice of a good fight. This kept his sexual instincts sharp and helped him resist the temptation to sink into redundant sensuality. In a nutshell, he was the most alert, dynamic and courageous of all the lovers of this Martian type. So why should he have had to wait?
In 1949, when Fonda told his mentally fragile second wife Frances Ford Brokaw he wanted a divorce so he could marry his 20-year-old mistress, the devastated Brokaw spiraled into increasing mental instability and entered a psychiatric hospital for treatment. Four months later, at age 42, she committed suicide by slitting her throat with a stolen razor. Fonda refused to discuss her suicide with his children, who didn't learn the truth for years. The following year, at the age of 45, Fonda married Susan Blanchard, stepdaughter of theatrical producer Oscar Hammerstein II, who later became a producer herself. They adopted a daughter named Amy in 1953. Blanchard was in awe of Fonda, and she described her role in the marriage as "a geisha", doing everything she could to please him, dealing with and solving problems he would not acknowledge. But five years of marriage was enough for Blanchard. Italian baroness Afdera Franchetti became Fonda's fourth wife two years after his divorce from Blanchard. Audrey Hepburn introduced the two while she and Fonda were in Italy filming War and Peace. Franchetti and Fonda married in 1957 and divorced four years later in 1961. Fonda's final and most enduring marriage was to Shirlee Adams, a former flight attendant and model whom he married in 1965. She was at his side when he died. It seems Fonda had finally met his match and mellowed in the process.
minor asteroids and points:
North Node: Virgo
Lilith: Taurus
Vertex: Aquarius
Fortune: Aquarius
East Point: Virgo
His North Node in Virgo dictated that his tendency to dream and be disorganized needed to be tempered by developing more practical and down-to-earth attitudes. His Lilith in Taurus dictated that he was dangerously attracted to women who were unabashed sensualists. These women were earthy, smutty, and totally without apology for their perfectly natural needs. He fell for women whose gut instincts were impeccable, their libido formidable, and whose sexual life-forces operated above and beyond petty morality. His Vertex in Aquarius, 6th house dictated that he yearned for completion of himself through the highest ideal of friendship. Hidden in the inner recesses of his soul were desires for a union that would impact the world in an almost utopian sense. There was a yearning for each act of intimacy to reflect a conviction of how all relationships should be in order for the world to be a better place. There was no place for exhibitions of jealousy with him. If his lover joined him in his lofty dreams, they had a companion for life. He had an attitude of duty, obligation and sacrifice when it came to heartfelt interactions. He tended to become hypochondriacal or martyristic to get the love so desperately wanted. There was a need for others to appreciate the sincerity of his intentions, to the daily tasks he executed in a conscientious and caring way and for others to know that his actions, no matter how routine they may have seemed, were based on devoted love.
His Part of Fortune in Aquarius and Part of Spirit in Leo dictated that his destiny lay in opening his mind and experiencing unique and unconventional life experiences. Happiness and fulfillment came from following pursuits that were idealistic, innovative and unique. This was especially so where there was a humanitarian benefit to his efforts. His soul’s purpose asked him to take a prominent position in life as a leader of some sort. He felt spiritual connections and the spark of the divine when he stepped forward into the spotlight and performed. East Point in Virgo dictated that he was most likely to personally identify with the need to work and to be pragmatic. He needed early responsibilities (which were within his capabilities). He tended to feel guilty when not working, as if he should be contributing in some way. He was generally identified with his work (“I am what I do.”) and with a performance orientation. If carried too far, this led to excessive self-criticism. When done in moderation, he was simply very practical and realistic, usually worked hard and saw life and himself clearly.
elemental dominance:
earth
air
He was a practical, reliable man and could provide structure and protection. He was oriented toward practical experience and thought in terms of doing rather than thinking, feeling, or imagining. Could be materialistic, unimaginative, and resistant to change. But at his best, he provided the practical resources, analysis, and leadership to make dreams come true. He was communicative, quick and mentally agile, and he liked to stir things up. He was likely a havoc-seeker on some level. He was oriented more toward thinking than feeling. He carried information and the seeds of ideas. Out of balance, he lived in his head and could be insensitive to the feelings of others. But at his best, he helped others form connections in all spheres of their daily lives.
modality dominance:
fixed
He liked the challenge of managing existing routines with ever more efficiency, rather than starting new enterprises or finding new ways of doing things. He likely had trouble delegating duties and had a very hard time seeing other points of view; he tried to implement the human need to create stability and order in the wake of change.
house dominants:
8th
9th
10th
He loved the totality of the human experience and embraced the whole cycle of human life, including birth, sex and death. His darker side, and the complexes and emotions that he preferred to keep hidden, even from himself was a theme throughout his life. His ability to undergo deep personal transformations and spiritual regeneration was also highlighted. Traveling, whether physically across the globe, on a mental plane or expanding through study was a major theme in his life. He was not only concerned with learning facts, but also wanted to understand the connections formed between them and the philosophies and concepts they stand for. His conscience, as well as foreign travel, people and places was also of paramount importance in his life. His ambition in relation to the outside world, the identity he wished to achieve in regard to the community at large, and his career aspirations were all themes that were emphasized throughout his life. All matters outside the home, his public image and reputation were very important to his. His attitude to people in authority, and how he viewed the outside world, as well as the influence of his mother and his own attitude to her was highlighted.
planet dominants:
Mercury
Pluto
Venus
He was intelligent, mentally quick, and had excellent verbal acuity. He dealt in terms of logic and reasoning. It was likely that he was left-brained. He was restless, craved movement, newness, and the bright hope of undiscovered terrains. He brought about complete and profound transformations in his life, good or bad. He felt the need to let go of what was familiar to him and accept new and different ways of being and doing things. There were areas in his life where he had to accept regeneration, which involved the destruction of the old and the creation of the new. He was romantic, attractive and valued beauty, had an artistic instinct, and was sociable. He had an easy ability to create close personal relationships, for better or worse, and to form business partnerships.
sign dominants:
Taurus
Gemini
Virgo
His stubbornness and determination kept him around for the long haul on any project or endeavour. He was incredibly patient, singular in his pursuit of goals, and determined to attain what he wanted. Although he lacked versatility, he compensated for it by enduring whatever he had to in order to get what he wanted. He ventured out to see what else was there and seized upon new ideas that expanded his community. His innate curiosity kept him on the move. He used his rational, intellectual mind to explore and understand his personal world. He needed to answer the single burning question in his mind: why? This applied to most facets of his life, from the personal to the impersonal. This need to know sent him off to foreign countries, where his need to explore other cultures and traditions ranked high. He was changeable and often moody. This meant that he was often at odds with himself—the mind demanding one thing, the heart demanding the opposite. To someone else, this internal conflict often manifested as two very different people. He was a discriminating, attractive, thorough, scientific, hygienic, humane, scientific man and had the highest standards. His attention to detail was second to none and he had a deeply penetrative and investigative mind.
Read more about him under the cut:
This remarkable, soft-spoken American began in films as a diffident juvenile. With passing years, he matured into a star character actor who exemplified not only integrity and strength, but an ideal of the common man fighting against social injustice and oppression. Henry's father, William Brace Fonda, was a commercial printer, proprietor of the W. B. Fonda Printing Company in Omaha, Nebraska. His distant ancestors were Italians who had fled their country and moved to Holland, presumably because of political or religious persecution. In the mid-1600's, they crossed the Atlantic and settled in upstate New York where they founded a community with the Fonda name. Growing up, Henry developed an early interest in journalism after having a story published in a local newspaper. At the age of twelve, he helped in his father's printing business for $2 a week. Following graduation from high school in 1923, he got a part-time job in Minneapolis with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company which allowed him at first to pursue journalistic studies at the University of Minnesota. As it became difficult to juggle his working hours with his academic roster, he obtained another position as a physical education instructor at $30 a week, including room and board. By this time, he had grown to a height of six foot one and was a natural for basketball. In 1925, having returned to Omaha, Henry reevaluated his options and came to the conclusion that journalism was not his forte, after all. For a while, he tried his hand at several temporary jobs, including as a mechanic and a window dresser. Then, despite opposition from his parents, Henry accepted an offer from Gregory Foley, director of the Omaha Playhouse, to play the title role in 'Merton of the Movies'. His father would not speak to him for a month. The play and its star received fairly good notices in the local press. It ran for a week, after which Henry observed "the idea of being Merton and not myself taught me that I could hide behind a mask". For the rest of the repertory season, Henry advanced to assistant director which enabled him to design and paint sets as well as act. A casual trip to New York, however, had already made him set his sights on Broadway. In 1928, he headed east and briefly played in summer stock before joining the University Players, a group of talented Princeton and Harvard graduates among whose number were such future luminaries as James Stewart (who would remain his closest lifelong friend), Joshua Logan and Kent Smith. Before long, Henry played leads opposite Margaret Sullavan, soon to become the first of his five wives. Both marriage and the players broke up four years later. In 1932, Henry found himself sharing a two-room New York apartment with Jimmy Stewart and Joshua Logan. For the next two years, he alternated scenic design with acting at various repertory companies. In 1934, he got a break of sorts, when he was given the chance to present a comedy sketch with Imogene Coca in the Broadway revue New Faces. That year, he also hired Leland Hayward as his personal management agent and this was to pay off handsomely. It was Hayward who persuaded the 29-year old to become a motion picture actor, despite initial misgivings and reluctance on Henry's part. Independent producer Walter Wanger, whose growing stock company was birthed at United Artists, needed a star for The Farmer Takes a Wife (1935). With both first choice actors Gary Cooper and Joel McCrea otherwise engaged, Henry was the next available option. After all, he had just completed a successful run on Broadway in the stage version. The cheesy publicity tag line for the picture was "you'll be fonder of Fonda", but the film was an undeniable hit. Wanger, realizing he had a good thing going, next cast Henry in a succession of A-grade pictures which capitalized on his image as the sincere, unaffected country boy. Pick of the bunch were the Technicolor outdoor western The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936), the gritty Depression-era drama You Only Live Once (1937) (with Henry as a back-to-the-wall good guy forced into becoming a fugitive from the law by circumstance), the screwball comedy The Moon's Our Home (1936) (with ex-wife Sullavan), the excellent pre-civil war-era romantic drama Jezebel (1938) and the equally superb Young Mr. Lincoln (1939), in which Henry gave his best screen performance to date as the 'jackleg lawyer from Springfield'. Henry made two more films with director John Ford: the pioneering drama Drums Along the Mohawk (1939) and The Grapes of Wrath (1940), with Henry as Tom Joad, often regarded his career-defining role as the archetypal grassroots American trying to stand up against oppression. It also set the tone for his subsequent career. Whether he played a lawman (Wyatt Earp in My Darling Clementine (1946)), a reluctant posse member (The Ox-Bow Incident (1942), a juror committed to the ideal of total justice in (12 Angry Men (1957)) or a nightclub musician wrongly accused of murder (The Wrong Man (1956)), his characters were alike in projecting integrity and quiet authority. In this vein, he also gave a totally convincing (though historically inaccurate) portrayal in the titular role of The Return of Frank James (1940), a rare example of a sequel improving upon the original. Henry rarely featured in comedy, except for a couple of good turns opposite Barbara Stanwyck -- with whom he shared an excellent on-screen chemistry -- in The Mad Miss Manton (1938) and The Lady Eve (1941). He was also good value as a poker-playing grifter in the western comedy A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966). Finally, just to confound those who would typecast him, he gave a chilling performance as one of the coldest, meanest stone killers ever to roam the West, in Sergio Leone's classic Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Illness curtailed his work in the 1970s. His final screen role was as an octogenarian in On Golden Pond (1981), in which he was joined by his daughter Jane. It finally won him an Oscar on the heels of an earlier Honorary Academy Award. Too ill to attend the ceremony, he died soon after at the age of 77, having left a lasting legacy matched by few of his peers. (x)

This is hands down one of my top favorite movies. I happened upon seeing something for it and was immediately brought back to it like a painful sting to my heart, so I thought I’d share a few thoughts I have on it, considering this (spoiler) is a movie about the abuse put on Mother Nature/Goddess.
The movie is so packed it’s hard for me to even pinpoint where to start, but this movie is honestly the perfect depiction of how Christianity and Patriarchal Societies, even though it doesn’t specifically address that, (which I’ll explain why I’m adding that at the end) neglect, use, abuse, and completely walk all over and disrespect Goddess/Mother Nature, but also those with truly empathic hearts who truly are loving and giving for those they love.
The end of this movie always guts me into tears, and I don’t mean the burning or the part where she finally breaks and screams to get everybody out of her house (ie. Mother Nature finally violently cleansing Her Earth after abuse after abuse she’s put up with). What guts me about this movie the most, is the very last part, where after she’s finally cleansed her house/Earth of all the people who have ignored her, treated her like shit, and like she’s invisible and murdered her baby .. after she has finally stood up for herself ... in the end, she gives in, and still allows this guy/God to go ahead and take her heart. That’s how much she loved him.
NO, .... that is not a good thing. This is what perpetuates the abusive cycle and it does.
She should have said fuck him and got away ... but it’s the fact that I’ve personally felt that. That was something that I would have done and have. Ten years after I got away from this horrifically abusive man, one of our children was in the hospital and my ex was scared and crying, and what did I do? I put aside my own fears/self and I said it’ll be okay. That he was getting the help he needed, and that everything was going to be fine. I consoled him. I soothed him, this man who’s strangled me, spat on me, told me I was nothing, and once he had a hold of himself again, literally minutes later, he screamed at me for bringing our son to the hospital and told me I was stupid.
No, I didn’t love him here, but this is an example of the cycle of abuse. ‘I love you,’ the abusee caves and cares, feels empathy for, and then abuse starts, again.
So, that ... hits me really hard.
And yes, here’s where I’m bringing in the relationship/patriarchal angle into this movie. It’s not directly really about that, but as a marital abuse survivor, myself, everything that happened in this movie, I’ve experienced, as well, just not in such a fantastical way. I know what it feels like to be forgotten. I know what it feels like to have your feelings gaslighted to fit other’s egos and wants. I know what it feels like to be abandoned for other people, no matter how much love and your self you give over to someone else. I know what It’s like to literally give up yourself because you love someone. I know what it’s like to be physically and mentally abused and all of these things happen in this movie just in a very artistic way.
Growing up in the Catholic Church, I was taught that selflessness was Godly and what we should strive for as a good person... and that’s what I did. I was selfless to the point that I didn’t exist. And just like this movie, it made me a pushover, and someone people walked over, and still do. And I look at this movie, and I feel so much connection and parallels with our Mother Nature. She keeps taking so much abuse and neglect and all that we hear about, is this other male God and she’s pushed away into the background as nothing, and it’s not just literally Mother Nature, but even all the womanly roles in most of the main religions and even our society. They aren’t God. They are mother’s of Gods or Holy Women, or Saints, but Goddess? (not many) They can birth Gods, but no, they are ‘just a woman’ who’s sub servant to, and under even her sons.
How many times have I had men make me feel smaller than, laugh at my thoughts, think it’s funny to make me uncomfortable, and make me feel like I don’t exist?
In this movie, at the end, she asks him, “Who are you?” and he says, “I am I. And you are Home.” And it made me realize upon hearing that now just what that means .. She is Home. She is the beginning of everything. She is the foundation of all things ever ... He is ‘I’ ‘himself’. He is ego. Which is shown because his love isn’t for her.. his love is about how much he loves people worshiping him.
Mother Goddess is the true absolute loving God. She is the one that has always given everything she has and she continues to even to this day, and that hurts so much to me... because look at what we are doing to Her.
And no, I don’t hate all men, but I am angry, and I think I have the right to be. So, does Mother Goddess.
